ALPHA SCRIBE
Handwriting is an essential skill for children. Cultivating a good hand writing is not an overnight change but a process has to be started from a very early age.
The teacher should teach the skills to ensure that pupils write neatly, legibly and accurate. Handwriting is important to the production of creative text.
WHO IS IT FOR?
This programme is for children aged 5 years and above.
Duration: 2 hours per week (6 months).
WHY?
As adults, it’s easy to forget that the English-language writing system requires students to recognise and write four different forms (upper- and lowercase manuscript and upper- and lowercase cursive) of each letter! Learning cursive puts a new set of alphabet recognition and fine-motor demands on students. Yet most of us continue to teach it, for many good reasons:
Expectations in school
Quick word recognition
Speed and ease of word formation
Personal expression
Prestige
